… let’s see how often that bugger actually checks up on me.

It seems as if my previous post gave people the impression that I’m in a bad mood, or that I’m angry. I’m not at all. Sure, I think there were a couple of days there where I may have been going through my period, but we all have those days, right? I mean … right? Damnit.

That said, I still think people suck. But that shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to anyone. No, I’m in a good mood. Stress-aside, I’m happy. I really am. At a certain point you just realize that it’s too much work. In keeping with my obsession with film and television, let me paraphrase from About a Boy:

‘The thing is, a person’s life is like a TV show. I’m the star of The Pete Show. And The Pete Show isn’t an ensemble drama. Guests come and go, but I am the regular. It comes down to me and me alone. If other’s can’t manage their own show, if their ratings are falling, it is sad, it really is, but that’s their problem. Ultimately, everyone else’s plot-line is a bit complicated for me.’

Hope that makes sense to some. I do care about people and I especially care about my friends (this one goes out to you, Mr. Morris) but sometimes you’ve got to prioritize and focus on yourself. And for the first time in a long time, it seems like I’m starting to be able to focus.

Don’t worry. Guy Smiley isn’t going anywhere. I’m still your same old neighborhood Peanut. And stuff.
